About Me
Hello and welcome to Earthside Midwifery!
My name is Kathleen and I'm an endorsed midwife working in Perth, WA. I graduated from Edith Cowan University in 2014 from the double degree (Nursing and Midwifery) and since then have worked in both tertiary hospital and family birth centre settings. In 2014 I attended my first homebirth as a student midwife. Observing the care that private midwives provide, the relationship that is developed between the midwife and the woman through true continuity of care and the power of a woman having full choice and autonomy over her pregnancy, labour and birth journey was transformative. From that moment I knew private practice was my future.
In October 2018 I gave birth to my son Logan and when returning to work I knew it was the right time to make the much-awaited step into private practice. In May 2020 I opened Earthside Midwifery and since then I have gained admitting rights to both King Edward and Fiona Stanley Hospital. It is very exciting to be able to offer not only home birth but now hospital birth with your chosen Midwife to the women of Perth.
Having experienced this model of care as both a Midwife and a birthing woman, I truly believe it is the gold standard of Midwifery care and that every woman should have access to their own chosen Midwife in their chosen birth setting. It is my belief and goal that no matter what your birth journey brings, you will feel respected and empowered throughout and that you will walk into motherhood feeling strong, confident and supported.
